Franklin B. Wood, Jr., of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on May 23, 1962, in Dayton, Ohio, Franklin spent a lifetime marked by diligence, dedication, and devotion to his loved ones and community.
Franklin’s career was characterized by a strong work ethic and adaptability. He began his professional journey operating a printing press at Standard Register, demonstrating keen attention to detail and technical skill. Later, he built a respected career as a diesel mechanic, a role he dedicated himself to for many years before retiring. His colleagues and those who worked alongside him remember Franklin for both his skillful hands and his willingness to lend support to those around him.
Throughout his life, Franklin was proud to have served in the United States Air Force. His commitment to his country was a source of great pride not only to himself but also to his family and community.
Outside of his professional and military endeavors, Franklin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about working on cars and spent many hours perfecting his craft, never hesitant to share his expertise with friends and family. The beach held a special place in his heart, offering relaxation and contentment. Franklin also took deep satisfaction in tending to his yard, taking pride in creating a welcoming environment for all who visited.
Family was at the very center of Franklin’s world. He cherished time spent with his 12 grandbabies and 9 great grandbabies, whose laughter and presence brought him joy and fulfillment. Franklin’s legacy is carried forward by his devoted wife, Paula (Murray) Wood; his loving daughter, Christina (Denny) Finster-Capps; his caring aunt, Dianna Davis; and his uncle, Paul (Jan) Arahood. He is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Wood, Sr., and his mother, Shirley (Arahood) Wood, whose guidance and love shaped the man he became.
Franklin’s strength, unwavering support, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His impact endures in the hearts and lives of his family, friends, and all those whose paths he crossed throughout his life.
Service information is pending and will be announced to allow family and friends to gather in remembrance and honor the legacy of Franklin B. Wood, Jr. He will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
