Frances W. Preston, of Waynesville, Ohio, passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on August 5, 1931, in Waynesville, she lived a long life marked by kindness, devotion, and a steady willingness to care for others.

Frances was known as a kind-hearted woman who was always willing to help anyone she could. Those who knew her cherished her wisdom and the calm, thoughtful way she moved through life. She was deeply devoted to her family and also found great companionship in her dogs, Toby and Sadie, who held a special place in her heart.

For many years, Frances worked as a barmaid and cook at Bertie’s Bar, where she became a familiar and beloved presence. Everyone knew her there, and she was remembered not only for her work but for the warmth and spirit she brought with her each day.

Family was at the center of Frances’s life. She is survived by her children, Dessie McIntosh, Cindy Hayes, Penny Anne Coleman, and Roger (Sonja) Ross; 18 grandchildren; over 35 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. Their place in her life was a lasting source of pride and love, and the bonds she shared with them remain an enduring part of her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Preston; children, Bessie King, Daniel Ross, and Bonnie Bird; and parents, Charles Paul and Ethel Mae (Yonker) Rhoads.

Frances will be remembered with love for her generous heart, her strength, and the care she gave so freely to family, friends, and all who crossed her path. Her life leaves behind many treasured memories.

Frances will be laid to rest with her husband, Martin, on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 1:00PM at Dayton National Cemetery, West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
