Fergus C. Lloyd, age 94 of Dayton, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 30, 1925 in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania to the late Fergus and Margaret Lloyd.
Fergus is preceded in death by his loving wife of more than sixty years, Edith O. Lloyd and son, Clyde Earl Horstmann.
He is survived by sons, Kenneth Eugene (Judy) Horstmann, Dale Vernon (Sharon) Horstmann and Larry Russell (Janice) Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Barbara Horstmann; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Fergus served as an elder for many years at the Belmont Church of Christ. He was the president of Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp for several years. He directed several camps with his wife Edith serving as camp cook and with many of his dear friends serving as staff every year. Fergus attended Girard College from the age of six until he graduated. After completing his education he joined the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was a Volunteer for Hospice of Dayton for over twenty-five years. Fergie was known for greeting every one he met with the most sincere "hello friend". He will be remembered for his storytelling and sense of humor. Fergus enjoyed spending his free time with his family and friends, doing puzzles, watching Reds games, and taking many road trips with Edith.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Belmont Church of Christ (3003 S. Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH 45420). Funeral Service will be officiated by Minister Tim Nowlin at 11:00 am. Interment and military honors to follow at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens.
