Everett Hewett King was born on September 13, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Napoleon Bonaparte King and Grace William Wheat-King. He was the tenth born of ten children. Everett departed this life on September 12, 2025, in Huber Heights Ohio, at the age of eighty-five. He passed unexpectedly but peacefully at home. He left behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for family. Everett loved being a dedicated husband to his wife Pauline E. King. They were high school sweethearts and best friends. You would not see one without the other!
He was a proud and dedicated retired member of the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. During his distinguished service, Everett was awarded the following medals: AF Good Conduct Medal with five oak leaf clusters; Army Good Conduct Medal; AF Outstanding Unit Award; AF Longevity Service Ribbon with three oak leaf clusters; National Defense Service Medal; and AF Commendation Medal. He loved serving our Lord Jesus Christ! He demonstrated extreme love for his family daily. He prioritizes others and motivates people to act with integrity and purpose. Everett graduated from the great Louisville Central High School. He later went on and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville.
Everett is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline King. Daughters Patrice M. Harrell, Cynthia D. King-Clay (Felix E. Turner), grandsons Alphons A. Harrell (Janet Rose Harrell), Kamren J. H. Clay, and great-grandkids Caitlyn Harrell, Carlin Harrell, Coco Harrell, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends whose memories will be remembered by others.
Everett was known for his intense love of family, no nonsense approach to life, great work ethic, and a thirst for education. Everett loved basketball; he was a member of the Louisville Central basketball team that won several championships during the 1950’s. He often spoke of his experience playing against the great Oscar Robinson. Everett never missed an opportunity to support his family in whatever the occasion would be. He particularly loved following the basketball career of his youngest grandson Kamren. His oldest grandson flew from Virginia Beach, VA to Huber Heights every summer until he was 16 years old! Everett was a member of the Mt. Enon Baptist Church Male Chorus. He will forever be known for leading his favorite song “So Satisfied with His Savoir!” Everett brought joy and laughter into every room. He valued time with loved ones, leaving lasting memories for future generations.
A service marking Everett’s life is scheduled for September 29th, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Mt. Enon Baptist Church. All who know and love him are welcome to attend and share in honoring his remarkable life.
Although Everett is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. May he rest in peace. “God Loves you and so do I/we.”
A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a funeral service starting at 12:00pm on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church, 1501 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45402. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
