Evelyn R. McClain

Evelyn R. McClain, 94, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026. Born on July 13, 1931, in Kentucky, Evelyn witnessed nearly a century of history, approaching life with a spirit that saw her through 94 years of change and growth. 

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, William McClain Jr., whom she married on August 9, 1952. William passed away in September 2010. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Carol Lancaster, who passed away in September 1985.

A native of Kentucky, Evelyn began her career in education before moving to Ohio to build a life with William. Together, they shared a passion for the water and were dedicated members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years. Their weekends were often spent on the Ohio River, enjoying the peace of their boat and the company of their cherished pets. 

Evelyn was a creative spirit who brought her husband's wood carvings to life with her paintbrush. In her later years, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her great-grandchildren, witnessing the continuation of the family legacy she and William began over seven decades ago. 

Evelyn's memory is carried on by her daughter, Barbara McClain; her grandchildren, Eric Replogle and his wife, Melissa, and Jessica Kiss and her husband Jeffrey; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Connor and Kendall Kiss.
