OBITUARY
Evelyn Ruth Williams, the only child of Samuel Williams and Catherine Hampton, was born August 2, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pa. She completed her earthly journey on December 29, 2017, at the age of 84 in her home with her family in Trotwood, Ohio.
Evelyn moved to Dayton from Philadelphia in 1965 with her two sons. In 1970, she married Raymon Martin welcoming his daughter, Kim, into her heart.
Evelyn was a very loving person, encouraging and supportive to all who knew her. Family was the center of her life, her greatest accomplishment - her greatest joy. She enjoyed her friendships, traveling, dogs, creative arts (intarsia, crochet etc.) and line-dancing
Baptized at a young age, Evelyn lived her faith through loving and serving others.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; Samuel Williams and Catherine Hampton; aunt and uncle who raised her like a daughter, Clarence and Gertrude Hampton; husband, Raymon Martin; sisters, Christine Coker and Gertrude Freeman; brothers, William Williams and Clarence Hampton, Jr.; and grandson, Damion Gay.
Survivors include 2 loving sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. (Mary) Gay, Jr. and Kendall A. (Vickey) Gay; daughter, Kimberley Bennett Gaines, 7 grandchildren, Robert A. Gay, Kenisha (Alonzo) Leigh, Kenya Williamson, Vincent (Micah) Gay, Kendall L. Gay, Dezelle Bennett, and Clayton Bennett, Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Neona Eloy; 1 brother John "Skeetz" Hampton; the father of her son, Robert L. Gay, Sr.;devoted nieces and nephews, and a host of other close cousins, relatives and friends.
