Eva Janelle Short, age 77, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on November 1, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Jesse C. Berry and Edith (Lorraine) Berry.
Eva was married to the late John R. Short from 1979 until his passing in 2013. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Lisa Short of Xenia, Ohio; her son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Holly Short of Troy, Ohio; and three cherished grandchildren: Kaylah Rex, Johnathan Painter, and Justin Short.
A proud member of the Xenia High School Class of 1966, Eva dedicated many years of service to Greene County Job and Family Services, retiring as a supervisor. In her retirement, she enjoyed coin collecting, traveling, visiting casinos, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Eva's legacy is one of warmth, love, and resilience. Her memory will forever be a source of light and comfort to those who knew and loved her. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her life continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek), where funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Mike Parks officiating.
Eva will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service.
