Ernestine Sims, a sweet and kind soul whose warmth touched all who had the privilege of knowing her, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on April 1, 1933, in Homer, Louisiana, and from an early age, she embodied a spirit of love and kindness that would define her life.
A devoted believer in God, Ernestine approached each day with a loving heart and a pleasant demeanor. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, effortlessly getting along with everyone she met. Her generosity of spirit and unwavering faith were shining examples for all who surrounded her. Known for her love for literature, she was an avid reader who found joy in the pages of love stories, often sharing her favorite tales with her family.
Ernestine's proudest accomplishments were her children, whom she cherished deeply. She is survived by her beloved sons, Tommy Sims, Michael Sims, and Kevin Sims, each of whom carries her legacy in their hearts. Her pride only grew as she welcomed her granddaughter, Tashannah Horne, and her great-grandsons, Jeriah Horne and Jonah Horne, into her life, casting a new light in her already abundant love.
In addition to her immediate family, Ernestine leaves behind her loving twin sister, Christine Levingston, whose bond with her was nurtured through many years of shared memories and support. A host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and relatives also survive her, each one a testament to the influence of her nurturing nature.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Lena Sims, and by nine siblings, all of whom she held dear in her heart. Their loss only emphasized the strength of family ties that she valued throughout her life.
As we remember Ernestine Sims, we celebrate a life woven with kindness, devotion, and love. Her presence will forever be felt in the hearts of those who knew her—a sweet melody of gentleness that will echo through the lives she touched.
