Ernestine Seldon (affectionately known as "Babysister") of Dayton, Ohio entered into eternal rest at the age of 73 on Sunday, February 21, 2016.
She was a native of Panther Burn, Mississippi and was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio. Ernestine came to Dayton t the age of 19 with aspirations of a better life for herself. She held many jobs before going to work at Grandview Hospital, where she retired after 37 years. She was a faithful member of Summit Christian Church where she served on the usher board for many years.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Seldon; parents, John & Irene Neal; brother, Roosevelt Moore and sister-in-law, Ruby Moore; step-daughter, Angie Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Catherine (Willie) Cooper and Rosetta Smith; step-daughters, Rose Marie Seldon and Tonya Seldon of Oh; step-sons, Dennis Seldon Jr. and Kevin Seldon of OH; brother, Robert Neal, of CA; sister, Rosemary Lauderdale, of TN; Step-sister, Frnkie (Phil) Harris; special nephew, Virgil Lee (Angie) Moore of TN; special cousin, Debra Willis of MI; grandchildren, Terri Cooper, Isaiah (Darnell) Cooper of VA, Dajhia Smith and Nicole Cooper; a host of great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her adored puppy "Miss Mimi." In addition to her current canine companion "Dottie" who remained faithful and by her side to the end.
Ernestines's favorite holiday was Christmas and having all her family around her, which she loved. She enjoyed shopping for presents, festively decorating her home for the holiday, and cooking lots of food. She was praised for the great cook she was. She also loved and was known for her flower garden which was known to have almost every flower possible.
Ernestine will be missed by all who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 11am-12pm at Summit Christian Church (4021 Denlinger Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45426). The service will follow at 12pm. Burial will take place at Dayton National Cemetery.
