Ernest Wyatt, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2017 in Dayton, Ohio. Ernest was born on October 29, 1928 in Crossville, Tennessee to the late Andrew and Dora (Croft) Wyatt.
In addition to his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Wyatt; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Johney Wilson; son, Ernie Wyatt; granddaughter, Lisa Smithers; great grandson, Caleb Smithers, as well as 5 brothers.
He is survived by his children, Opal Phillips, Donna (Don) Egleston, Terry (Lisa) Wyatt; daughter-in-law, Betty Wyatt; sisters, Elsie Flynn and Alberta White; 4 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
He retired from the Operating Engineers after 50+ years of service and served on the Moraine Volunteer Fire Department for 20+ years. Ernest was a longtime member of Moraine Heights Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at The Sanctuary and Ohio Hospice for their care and compassion. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Moraine Heights Baptist Church, 5661 Munger Rd., Moraine, OH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 am also at the church. He will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
