Emma Wright

March 12, 1924 — February 7, 2016

KATHLEEN WRIGHT
Emma Kathleen (Bean) Wright, 91, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

She was born March 12, 1924, in Putnam County, Tennessee, to the late Albert and Vallie (Bean) Bean.

She met Dolph, her husband of 71 years, when he became friends with her older brother J. Lee. They began to date after a friend told Dolph that Kathleen was the prettiest girl on that side of Cookeville. They fell in love and later were married on April 30, 1944, in Olympia, WA while he was stationed at Fort Lewis during World War ll. Kathleen was a real estate agent and longtime manager at Morris Pharmacy in Dayton before retiring. She enjoyed family research which she began doing with her husband in the 1970's. They climbed fences, pushed through briars, knocked on doors, and dusted off decades of dust on records in dark courthouse basements to make exciting discoveries. She was proud of her Upper Cumberland roots and continued to research her family history even when she could no longer climb those fences. She was a loving and devoted wife. She loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. Her family loved everything about her, her smile and quirky sense of humor.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Dolph Wright of Riverside; children Brenda "Bobbie" Graham of Xenia, Carol Wright of Riverside, Beverly (Dave) Moffatt of Wellington, and Gregory Wright of Gainesboro, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her brother, Herman (Becky) Bean of Cookeville, Tennessee; and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Sharron Wright; son-in-law, Tom Graham; grandson Vincent Wright; brothers, Carl and J. Lee Bean; and her special aunt, Laura (Bean) Vanderpool.

A private burial was held at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Archives and Veteran's Hall, 121 South Dixie Ave., Cookeville, TN 38501. Share online memories and condolences at NewcomerDayton.com.
