Emma Shetler, a beloved member of her community and devoted matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. Born on August 29, 1933, Emma lived a full and meaningful life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
Emma’s lifelong dedication to her work was evident in her 35 years at Johnson Rubber, where she retired as a respected employee. Beyond her career, Emma’s true joys were found in the quiet and purposeful rhythms of her daily life. Raised in an Amish household, she embraced a simple, devoted lifestyle that shaped her character and values. She spent many tranquil days tending to her flowers with the same care she showed toward those around her.
Throughout her younger years, Emma enjoyed bowling and reading. Her infectious smile was a constant to all who knew her, a testament to her loving spirit and joyful nature. Emma won the race of life with grace and resilience.
One of Emma’s proudest accomplishments was her service as a Sunday school teacher at North Bloomfield Assembly of God, where she sowed seeds of faith and kindness in countless young hearts. She extended her warmth and compassion in nursing home visitations, playing the harmonica for residents and brightening their days with music and companionship.
Emma is survived by her beloved daughter, Linda Clevenger; two cherished grandsons, Douglas Clevenger and Danny Clevenger (alongside his wife, Brooke); and a lineage of great-grandchildren-Devlin, Makenzie, Oliver, and Austin -as well as a great-great-granddaughter, Georgia. Her life was also enriched by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who treasured her gentle presence and enduring love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Emma; and her siblings, Viola, Polly, Maryann, Katie, Lena, Levi, Jonas, and Peter.
Emma Shetler’s legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, and joy-a beacon of light to all who had the privilege to know her. Her loving spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family, friends, and community for generations to come.
If desired, the family encourages guests to make a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer Association or plant a rose bush in her memory.
