Elva Lee Murphy, age 92 of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2019. She was born in Hazzard, KY to the late Jonah and Ida Mae Halcomb on November 20, 1926. Elva met the love of her life, Paul Murphy and the two were married in June of 1945. Elva taught Sunday School in The Church of God for many years and loved to share her passion for Christ with others. She was a spiritual mentor to many.
She enjoyed reading in her free time and traveling with her family. Elva took great pride in her family. Elva had a passion for life and would always bring a smile to anyone she met. She loved to spend time with those she loved.
Elva was a loving, caring, and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Murphy; daughter, Othel McCuistion; brothers, Hobalee Halcomb, Slaney Halcomb, Vernon Halcomb, Oakley Halcomb, Bergie Halcomb, and Oscar Halcomb.
Elva leaves to cherish her memory, loving daughter, Dyane Murphy; grandchildren, Danielle Jamison, Tony McCuistion, Derek McCuistion, Mark McCuistion, and Jeff McCuistion; great-grandchildren, Ava, Lauren, Austin, Taylor, Kara, Zack, Randi, Kathryn, Ashley, Alyssa, Arika, and Alivia; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at Newcomer - North Chapel (4104 Needmore Road, Dayton) on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 1:30pm. Visitation for one hour prior, 12:30pm - 1:30pm. Burial to follow at Willow View Cemetery.
