Elva J. Daniels

Elva J. Daniels, age 85 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully at his residence with his wife by his side on January 4, 2025. He was born on December 4, 1939 in Paintsville, Kentucky, son of the late Jason and Geneva (Dixon) Daniels.

Elva was a devoted husband to his wife Vivian, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Elva was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country assigned to the Big Red One Infantry out of Fort Riley, Kansas. A hard working and dedicated man, he owned and operated Daniels Construction, his own construction, for 45 years. He also served as a pastor at the Bethel Christian Lighthouse for many years, sharing his faith and compassion with his community. 

Elva found joy in the outdoors, spending his time hunting, fishing, and camping, but his greatest happiness came from being with his family. His love, guidance, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Elva was preceded in death by his step-sons, Kenneth T. West and Chris Shade; step-daughter, Diane M. Robbins; siblings, Pauline Young, Larry Daniels, Elmer "Bobby" Daniels, and Betty Collinsworth.

Elva is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vivian Daniels; daughters, Brenda Lee Daniels, Linda Sue Wassmer; step-sons, Gene Shade and Stephen P. (Natasha) Neary; step-daughter, Kathie A. (Wayne) Driver; siblings, Earlene Zahroom, Donnie Daniels, Johnny (Sandra) Daniels, Phyllis McKenzie, Sharon Adams, Frankie (Maudie) Stapleton, and Sandra (T.J.) Music; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as several other family members and friends. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 4:30pm-6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A Funeral Service will begin at 6pm with Noel Obach officiating. Private Burial held at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
