Ellen Ruth Allen

Ellen Ruth Allen, age 86, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Greene Memorial Hospital. She was born October 8, 1930 in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late Ulysses and Sarah Gulley.

Ellen worked as a nanny and at the Nazarene Kiddie College for many years. She liked to read and loved her book club family. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and was kind to everyone she met. Ellen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who looked forward to time spent with her family. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert "Bobby" Allen; grandchildren, Jesse and Jeremy Davenport and siblings, R.C. Gulley, Jesse Gulley, Thelma Stroop, Ruby Muse, Gene Gulley, Earl Gulley, Opal Conrad and Brooks Gulley. Ellen will be missed by her loving husband Glen of almost 67 years; children, Glen (Joyce) Allen, Jr., James Brooks (Izumi) Allen, Stephanne (Michael) Pummell and Jeph (Rebecca) Allen; Sheila Brown, who was like a daughter to her; grandchildren, Anita (Ben) Stratton, Jane Christi (Shaun) Newton, Shaun (Brooke) Davenport, Olani Allen and Josie Allen; great grandchildren, Thomas, Oscar, Jamie, Cooper, Macy and Savannah; brother, Dennis "Mac" Gulley; sister, Bernie Story; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432, Rev. Harold Horton, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment Valley View Memorial Gardens.
