Elisabeth Nemeth, born Aug. 18, 1935,, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away surrounded by love on Oct 7, 2025.

Born in Germany, Elisabeth came to the United States 68 years ago, bringing with her a strong sense of heritage and an unmistakable German accent that so many came to adore. Her faith was central throughout her life, and she was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio.

Elisabeth’s warmth and kindness shone through everything she did. She was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook, and a proud member of the German Club Edelweiss, where she cherished dancing, laughter, and fellowship with her dear friends. Among her many roles there, she was fondly known as the “Sunshine Lady”-a title that fit her radiant spirit perfectly.

Above all, Elisabeth found her greatest joy in being a mother. She filled her family’s lives with love, guidance, and endless care. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, John Nemeth; her parents, Andreas and Katrina Ernst; her brother, Andreas Ernst, her brother in law Henry Nemeth and her granddaughter , Jamie Hoagland.

She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind-her loving daughters, Frieda Hoagland and Heidi Davis; her sons-in-law, Steve Hoagland and Mike Davis; her sister in Germany, Frieda Bouslair; her grandchildren, Matt Hoagland and AJ Castle , Jennifer Crum Mike) ,and her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Johnny, Jasmine, Matthew (Bianca), and Mercedes (Nate), Jon and Jasmine, Madison (Luke) , Mackenzie, Myla, Maueve, Hayden, Jaxson ,Lydia, Chloe, and Jeanette. She also leaves behind her cherished nephews, Derek Nemeth , Mark Nemeth(Jeanne) and Jurgen Bouslair (Isabel), Jason ,and all her four-legged “fur grandkids,” who brought her such joy. Her many special friends who helped her make special memories.

Elisabeth’s legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her laughter, her stories, and her unwavering light will never be dimmed .

Services and visitation will be held Thursday, October 16th, from 11:00AM until the time of the service at 12:30PM at St John’s Lutheran Church (45 S. Ludlow St Dayton OH).
