Listen to Obituary

Eleanor Axibal Cayabyab, born on December 11, 1942, in Villasis Pangasinan, Philippines, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, in Kettering, Ohio. As we reflect upon her beautiful life, we remember a woman whose generous spirit and sense of humor touched the hearts of many.

Eleanor worked at the Department of Health in the Philippines before embarking on a new adventure in the United States in 1976. After settling in Dayton, she continued her career at Sycamore Hospital and eventually retired from WIC in 2014. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her ambitious nature, a trait that she lovingly passed down to her children.

Eleanor was a proud graduate of the University of Santo Thomas in Manila, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition in 1963. Her educational achievements laid the foundation for a life devoted to nurturing not only her profession but also her family.

Those who knew Eleanor can recall many joyful memories, including her first date with her beloved husband Jaime, attending a Beatles concert together in 1965. Their enduring love story spanned over 54 remarkable years, a partnership filled with laughter, supported by shared passions, and underscored by deep affection.

Eleanor was a pillar in the Dayton Filipino-American community, known for her love of cooking Filipino food, dancing at various celebrations, and attempting to sing karaoke—both in church and amongst friends. She loved to party and dance alongside Jaime, and her passion for traveling the world with him and their friends added vibrant hues to their shared life experiences. A true girly girl at heart, she took joy in dressing up, always bringing an element of fun and flair to every occasion. You could find her on every Saturday sitting on the couch yelling O-H-I-O and Go Bucks! as she rooted on her favorite college football team... The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Her proudest accomplishments were her family and especially her beloved grandchildren: Jackson, Mae, and Myles. They were her pride and joy, and her love for them was immeasurable.

Eleanor's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband Jaime, her children Cheryl (Joseph) Forcina and Ryan (Autumn) Cayabyab, as well as her cherished grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Pedro and Eladia Axibal, and her siblings, Teofina Rapanut and Bobbitt Axibal.

As we bid farewell to Eleanor, we take comfort in the countless memories she left us, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared so abundantly throughout her life. A visitation in her memory will be held on September 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
