Eleanor Iva Bennett

Eleanor Iva Bennett, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away on December 14, 2025, at Fairmont of Washington Township, at the age of "28" (102). Born on April 7, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio, Eleanor’s life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and an unwavering spirit.

Eleanor dedicated much of her career as a supervisor with Rikes in Dayton, a position that showcased her leadership qualities and work ethic. Following her time at Rikes, she continued her journey in the fabric and crafting world with Stretch 'n Sew and JoAnn Fabrics, where her love for textiles flourished. Known for her remarkable talents in cooking, painting, sewing, and quilting, she brought joy and comfort to those around her through her creations.

Eleanor was a beloved family member whose sweetness endeared her to everyone she met. She was deeply loved, offering her affectionate nature freely to her family and friends. Memories of joyful gatherings at Lake Hope with family remain a testament to the cherished moments shared under the serene skies and among the tranquil waters.

Her legacy includes her loving children, Christina (Ron) Meyer, Michael Bennett, and Lisa (David) Fitzharris, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. Eleanor delighted in the company of her grandchildren, Thomas Meyer, Wendy Meyer, Emily (John) Laswell, Jonathan (Angelea) Bennett, and Tyler (Andrea) Donovan, and she took immense pride in watching her family grow. The joy of her life continued with her great-grandchildren, Cassie, Brooke, Rylee, Jack, Gabriella, and Faith; and great-great grandchildren, Mac, Katherine, and Rain, each of whom benefited from her warmth and wisdom.

Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Bennett; her son, Richard "Rick" Donovan; her brother, Robert (Vaunita) Sherer; daughter-in-law, Debra Bennett; and grandson, Douglas Donovan. Their memories will be honored and remembered by all who knew her, as they remain an integral part of her legacy.

Eleanor Iva Bennett’s departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply by her family and friends, yet her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched. She will forever be remembered for her loving heart, nurturing spirit, and the enduring joy she brought into the world.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 12 pm to 1 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459). Funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
