Eldra Dixon, age 92 of Huber Heights, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026. Eldra was born May 12, 1933 in Sanford, Florida. The son of the late Ezekiel and Irene Dixon.
Eldra proudly served in the Air Force as a B-52 gunner for twenty years. During most of his military career, Eldra also worked as a television repairman and retired at age 77. On Saturdays he volunteered his time helping people of Huber Heights learn about investments at the Success Center Foundation at the Huber Heights Library.
Following the death of his loving wife Naomi of 68 years, those left to cherish his memory are his children, Andre Dixon, Melanie (Dixon) Alioto, Ramone Lewis, and Angel Gillis. Also surviving is his daughter-in-law, Rosa Dixon and sons-in-law David Alioto and Durelle Gillis. His grandchildren are Baron and Jordan Laudermilk, Ryan Dixon, Dannielle Cosby, Dawnn Jackson, Dominic Dixon-Lewis, Devynn Dixon-Lewis and Daynna Dixon-Lewis, Mariyah Gillis, Aaron Gillis, Mariytzah Gillis and Mikeylah Gillis, and step-grandson, Matt Alioto, along with a host of great grandchildren.
In the face of life’s many challenges, he gave all his children and grandchildren a foundation on which they could succeed. He also remained a source of strength, kindness, and unwavering faith to those who knew him. Today all his children stand proudly as a reflection and extension of him.
The viewing will start at 10:30 AM and Bishop Dr. Eric A. Burns will officiate a short service beginning at 11:30 AM (EST), on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 1001 Beatrice Drive, Dayton, Ohio followed by a military funeral burial at Dayton National Cemetery.
