Elaine Carter, born December 8, 1953, in Springfield, Ohio, peacefully passed away on May 3, 2026, in Kettering, Ohio. She was a truly one-of-a-kind individual, deeply caring and generous to all who knew her. Elaine’s life was marked by a profound dedication to taking care of everyone around her, always giving freely and selflessly.
Elaine shared a rich and full partnership with her beloved husband, Martin W. "Homer" Carter, a United States Army Veteran. Together, they embraced life’s many joys and hobbies, sharing countless moments side by side. Elaine matched Martin’s enthusiasm in every pursuit, reflecting their unbreakable bond. Among her favorite pastimes were doing puzzles and playing games such as BINGO and UNO, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. She was an avid Elvis fan and loved attending festivals with her sister Bev. Above all, Elaine was profoundly family-oriented, treasuring quality time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her cherished children: Randy (Cyndy) Carter, Doug (Jodi) Carter, James (Heather) Carter, and Phil (Melissa) Carter. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Robbie, Austin (Zach), Shane, Wesley, Tyler, Kayla, Gage, Codi, Blake (Madison), Brianna, Brooke, and Noble. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, John (Shawn) Foley and Beverly Phipps; aunt, Pearlie; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Inez Mildred Foley, and her beloved husband, Martin W. "Homer" Carter.
Elaine Carter’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be remembered for her warm heart, relentless spirit, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of caring and kindness will endure in the hearts of all she loved and who loved her in return.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. Funeral services will start at 10:30 am will burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
