Effie Marie Malone, affectionately known as "Sis," departed this world peacefully on January 29, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on August 31, 1937, in Lawrence County, Ohio, Effie lived a life filled with love, warmth, and dedication. A proud graduate of Ironton High School, Class of 1955, she carried with her the spirit of resilience that would define her as a devoted wife and mother throughout her life.
Effie’s legacy as a loving matriarch is cherished by her family. She was blessed with three children, James Malone, Sue Malone, and Nick Malone, who were the pride of her life. Her nurturing and supportive nature extended to her grandchildren—Mark (Bianca) Mendl, Nick Malone-Muller Jr., Travis Perry, Chad Perry, Elizabeth Meyers, —as well as her great-grandchildren, Garrett Perry, Tracy Lee Mendl, Justin Mendl, Antonia Mendl, Alex Mendl, Lea Danner, Sabrina Meyers, Sophia Meyers, Mary Meyers and Jesse Meyers. Each of them holds countless precious memories of time spent with their beloved "Mama," memories that will forever keep her spirit alive in their hearts.
She was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a steadfast pillar of strength in her family, often regarded as the queen and general of her family. Her vibrant personality was defined by her feisty, ornery and loyal spirit, intertwined with immense love and kindness towards those around her. Effie's devotion to her family was unwavering and evident in every aspect of her life.
Throughout her years, she enjoyed many hobbies and interests that brought her joy and fulfillment. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, creating countless memories that will forever be in their hearts. Effie took pleasure in riding motorcycles with her late husband, Troy Malone, with whom she shared a loving partnership for 50 beautiful years. Together, they traveled and explored, carving out a life rich with experiences. Effie's strong faith also found a home at Moraine Baptist Church, where she was a cherished member of the congregation.
Effie is reunited in spirit with her beloved parents, Frank and Mae Tipton, her late husband Troy, and her brothers, Pete Tipton, John Tipton, and Ray Tipton. The love she shared and the memories she created remain a testament to her vibrant spirit and unyielding strength, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Effie leaves behind a tapestry of love and connection, woven through her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. She will be remembered for her fierce love, unwavering devotion, and the vibrant spirit she shared with everyone around her.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Effie will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Myrtle Ridge Cemetery in Lawrence County Ohio.
