Effie E. Owens

Effie (Tackett) Owens passed away peacefully on 4/29/2026 at Momentous Nursing Home. Effie was born on 8/15/1938 in Enterprise, Ky, Carter County to the late Pete and Pansy(Oney) Tackett. She Graduated from the Kentucky School of the Deaf, where she met and married her high school sweetheart Curt on 11/8/1958.

She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Curt, sons Robert and Alfred. Brothers Clarence, Raymond, Herbert, Shirlie, Allen and Rick Tackett. Sisters Janet Tackett and Dottie Ferry and special friends Sam and Bob.

Survivors include Son Jerry (Sebrena) Owens, Grandchildren Jenny Deboo, Tammy, Zach and Brayden Owens, Great Grandchildren McKenzy and Kaylee, and Great Great Grandchild Evelyn, brother Jack(Regina) Tackett, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special Friend Ruth Blevins.

Effie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend. She loved and was very close with her family, playing cards with them and her friends. She was also a member of the Dayton Deaf Club. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Momentous Nursing Home, and Day City Hospice for all the care they gave her in the last stage of her life.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 1-2 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A graveside service will begin at 2:30pm at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Effie's honor to the Funeral Home to help the family with expenses.
