Edwin Cruickshank, a devoted husband, father, proud veteran, and lifelong public servant, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, quiet strength, and remarkable patience. He was born on June 15, 1944, to Edwin and Dolores Cruickshank.
Edwin honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, dedicating a significant part of his life to protecting and supporting the nation he loved. Following his military retirement, he continued his commitment to service as a federal civilian with the Defense Commissary Agency, where he worked diligently until his recent retirement. His career reflected not only duty and discipline, but also a deep sense of responsibility to others.
Beyond his professional life, Edwin was known for his gentle spirit, steady patience, and profound love for all living things. He found joy in the simple beauty of nature, watching birds, caring for squirrels, and showing kindness to cats and other animals that crossed his path. His compassion for animals reflected the kindness he carried in his heart every day.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Dolores Cruickshank.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Toy, his devoted partner since 1987 and his wife since 1997. Their enduring bond was built on love, loyalty, and shared life experiences that spanned decades. He is also survived by his siblings, Raymond Cruickshank, Robert Cruickshank (Betty), Bonnie Cruickshank, and Laura Cruickshank; his children, Rusty and Angela Cruickshank; his stepchildren, Lisa Thomas (Brian), Julia Thomas (Jimmy), Christy Sutton, and Andrew Thomas (Scott); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his service, his quiet kindness, his patience, and the warmth he extended to both people and animals alike. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
