Edward A. Porter

July 26, 1954 — July 23, 2025

Dayton, Ohio

Edward Alan Porter, affectionately known as Ed, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on July 26, 1954, in Springfield, Ohio, Ed was a cherished husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, whose legacy will undoubtedly endure through the many lives he touched.

Ed graduated from Springfield North High School, Class of 1972. He embarked on a career that included fulfilling roles as an administrator at DRET and Monte Zinn, where his intelligence and quiet demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues. Known for his mischievous wit and loving personality, Ed brought a lightheartedness and warmth to every situation.

His passions extended beyond work; he enjoyed watching game shows, with a particular fondness for Jeopardy, and was a dedicated fan of the LA Dodgers and The Ohio State University. Ed found joy in playing card games, hiking, and taking memorable road trips, but most importantly, he treasured spending time with his beloved family, including caring for his cats, who he considered part of his family.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Joy, and their daughter, Andrea (Jereme) Kuperman. He was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Ava, Zeb, and Levi, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Ed is also survived by his brothers, Charles (Brenda) Porter, Dwight (Michell) Porter, and Paul (Stephanie) Porter, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will deeply miss his presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Dorothy Porter, and brothers, Larry and Doug Porter, as well as his nephew, Marshall Porter, all of whom surely welcomed him with open arms.

Ed's kindness, intelligence, and loving spirit will be remembered forever by those who knew him well. His legacy will continue through the memories shared by his family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held by the family at a later date.
