Edmund Phillip Truckenbrodt

October 30, 1924 — February 20, 2017

On 20 February 2017, Edmund "Ed" Phillip Truckenbrodt entered his journey to eternal life to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.

He was a devoted, loving husband to his wife of 45 years, Dr. Yolanda Truckenbrodt.

He was a highly decorated veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was the recipient of the National Order of the Legion of Honour Medal (The highest Order for military and civil merits bestowed by the nation of France; a Chevalier, Knight), the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and many military decorations, medals, and awards.

He was assigned to 3rd Infantry Division, 15th Regiment, M Company. He was a lifetime member of the Society of the Third Infantry Division, and an Honorary Member of Rock of the Marne (France). He competed in Roller Skating Dance Competitions and won numerous regional awards. He was an avid long distance runner and won countless road races trophies and medals. He was an accomplished Marksman, enjoyed biking and camping, he embraced the outdoors, and loved Nature and its glorious four Seasons. He painted subjects and landscapes in watercolors. He was interested in Sciences, History, Sports, Politics, Music, Astronomy, and Religion.

He was a man of great character and lived by the motto of "Deeds, not words." He possessed a kind giving spirit and donated generously to various national organizations for the preservations of wildlife and protection of the environment. He was a dedicated contributor to international charitable organizations as a Sponsor to poor children in need of education.


He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C.

Funeral Service will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017, Reverend Nitos Dobles officiating, at Newcomer Funeral Home 4104 Needmore Rd. Visitation is 1 hour prior to the service (4:00pm until 5:00pm).
