Ed Patterson

Edward Allen “Ed” Patterson, age 88, of Xenia, OH, passed away December 13, 2024. Ed was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on December 2, 1936 to the late R.D. and Esther Patterson.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Linda Patterson (Frost); children, Kelly Gockel (Tim), Sharon Thomas (Rusty), Susan Cramer (Joe), and Mike (Ginny); ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and his brother Richard Patterson (Martha).

As a graduate of West Virginia University in aeronautical engineering, Ed went on to hold many positions in the aircraft industry. He retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as the chief engineer of the C5-B.

In his free time, Ed restored antique cars and trucks, and was a member and past president of the Airflow Club of America. He shared his passion for auto mechanics, sports, and home maintenance with his family and friends. He also enjoyed volunteering in the areas of coaching youth sports, tutoring, and community outreach. Ed and Linda spent years travelling and camping all over the country.

Ed will forever be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his patience and intelligence, and his love and dedication to his family. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
