Dwight "Wade" Barnett, age 66, of Dayton, a dedicated automotive technician and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Madeline (Slagle) Barnett. Wade's life was marked by a profound commitment to his son and his craft.
Along with his parents, Wade is preceded in death by his brother, Doyle Barnett. He is survived by his son, Wade Barnett; his brothers Danny (Karen) Barnett and Doug (Cindy) Barnett; and significant other, Ann. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with extended family members and friends who will carry forward his memory and legacy.
Wade devoted over 20 years to Dayton Tire Sales where he retired, however, he had a lifetime dedicated to working on cars. He brought his expertise and passion for automotive technology to countless vehicles, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. His technical skill was matched by his innate kindness and consideration, qualities that defined him as much as his professional achievements.
Known to many as a loving father, brother, and family member, Wade's warmth extended beyond his immediate family. He was known as a great friend and had many throughout his life, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Wade solely raised his son where they spent an awesome life together. In his free time, Wade enjoyed sitting on his patio, appreciating the quiet moments of life. He loved the thrill of drag racing and tractor pulls, building go-karts, camping, and could almost always be found fixing and tinkering with cars. Wade always invited friends to Barney's where many family and friends remembered great times.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 12:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel. Family and friends may visit from 11:00AM until the time of service. Wade will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the Nature Center Association of Caesar Creek in memory of Wade, https://nature-center-caesar-creek.square.site/
Wade Barnett was a naturally skilled guy, but he’ll be remembered most for his huge heart. He was always the first to offer a hand or a kind word. His technical talent was impressive, but his genuine kindness is what truly made him special and that is the legacy he leaves behind.
