Doyle Delane Helton
April 22, 1935 — February 23, 2019
Doyle Delane "Briar" Helton, age 83 of Xenia, OH passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born April 22, 1935 in Wilton, Kentucky to Estle and Cordie Helton. Doyle married Velma Clift on June 14, 1957 at East Dayton Church of Christ.
Doyle retired from NCR after 22 years. After retirement he worked for Dijjeni and Time Warner until 2001. He loved fishing, camping and the outdoors. Doyle loved to mow and take care of his yard, was a tinkerer and built his own house. If he didn't know how to do it, he would figure it out. Doyle was a passionate University of Kentucky basketball fan and would leave any engagement to listen or watch the game. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma; a son, Jeff (Tammie) Helton; he was Papaw to three grandchildren, Lauren (Artie) Weisenbarger, Nathan (Shonda) Helton and Delayna Helton; nine great grandchildren, Ciara, Hannah, Zach, Haevyn, Tatum, Tru, Gideon, Tannyn and Ezra; three sister in laws, Mary Helton, Janet and Verna Clift; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Gene, Reed and Lym "Cuz".
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek, OH.
