In Loving Memory

A Celebration of a Life Well Lived

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Douglas “Doug” Paul Peck, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandpa, coach, and teacher. After a 6-year struggle with Lewy Body Dementia, Doug passed away peacefully in his home on November 1, 2025.

Born on April 10, 1951, in Fairborn, Ohio, Doug is the son of Douglas Paul Peck, Sr. and Ella Jane Peck. As a child playing with his brother Steve and sister Debby, and throughout young adulthood, Doug developed a passion for competition, being part of a team, and challenging himself – a passion he fed thru immersing himself in sports.

That passion set the foundation for Doug’s career…a life dedicated to teaching, coaching, and developing kids of all ages. Through his 30 years teaching at Ida Weller Elementary and over 35 years coaching Centerville High School football, softball, and basketball teams, Doug impacted the lives of countless students and players. Mr. / Coach Peck will be remembered for his firm but fair approach, humility, competitive nature, genuine caring, tireless work ethic, and drive to push others to make the most of what they have.

At home, you would find Doug working in his yard, exploring nature, enjoying music and movies, or playing games with his friends and family. His passion for sports, teaching, and coaching was only surpassed by his devotion to his family and loyalty to those with whom he was a close friend. A loving husband for over 50 years to Karen Peck and proud father to Rachelle Peck and Brandon Peck; Doug was a family man at his core. He ran a tight ship and held high expectations for those in his life, but in return enriched the lives of his family and friends with his quick wit, sense of humor, ability to listen and offer thoughtful perspectives, and deep caring in all he committed himself to doing. If you were lucky enough to call yourself a friend of Doug’s, you were a friend for life.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Douglas P. Peck, Sr. mother, Ella J. Peck, and brother, Steve M. Peck. He is survived by his wife, Karen Peck, 2 children Rachelle Peck and Brandon (Eileen) Peck, 3 grandchildren Henry, Betty, and Michael, sister Debby (Gary) Clemenz, and many dear friends and extended family.

A memorial service to celebrate Doug Peck’s life will be held on November 23, 2025, at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, 800 East David Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429. The visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:30, followed by a service at 2:30. All are welcome to join in remembrance and to share favorite memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to National Wildlife Federation (https://www.nwf.org/) or Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/).
