Douglas Harlow

October 13, 1950 — May 26, 2025

Douglas Warren Harlow passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, surrounded by family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was 74.

Doug was born on October 13, 1950, to Mary Katherine Harlow (née Keith) and Warren Maxwell Harlow, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Jane Harlow, who passed away on May 1, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife, Wei, and his children: Chris Harlow (Jenni), Danielle Harlow, Izzie Potter (Dan), Sara Duibley (Darryl), and Yinan Zhang. He is also survived by his former spouse, Jennifer Harlow, and a beloved group of grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

A 1969 graduate of Oakwood High School, Doug lived a life marked by curiosity, service, and craftsmanship. In his early years, he worked at Dairy Queen in Somerset, Kentucky, alongside his uncle Richard Keith, where he learned to make Richard’s corn dogs—affectionately called “Quickies.” They became a family favorite. Doug also worked as a mechanic, an electronics repair technician, and even pursued private pilot training.

Doug later answered a call to public service, joining the police departments of Miami Township, Moraine, and Waynesville. After his time in law enforcement, he transitioned into the private sector, working at his father-in-law’s business, CDC Distributors, before beginning a long and distinguished career at NCR. At NCR, Doug found his true professional passion—cybersecurity. He was instrumental in building the company’s first cybersecurity program and later became an expert in computer forensics, working for NCR, Crosslin Technologies, a law firm, and co-founding his own business, Computer Forensics Network Security Group, with his son Chris. He concluded his career on the Privacy team at CareSource, where his experience and insight were highly valued.

Doug was a natural builder and fixer—whether it was electronics, engines, or anything in between. He loved hunting, tending to his roses, geocaching, and spending time in the garage or workshop, often with a curious grandchild by his side. Doug’s integrity, sharp wit, and tireless work ethic left a mark on everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched—as a husband, father, grandfather, colleague, and friend.
