Dorothy D. Umphrey, age 87 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Gus and Mary Susong.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bill" Umphrey; son, Gregory Hermann; brothers, Bruce and Don Susong; sister, Brenda Austin.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Danny) Hensley; step-sons, Bill (Cami) Umphrey, Mark (Sherri) Umphrey, Brian (Tammy) Umphrey; sister, Kathi York; grandchildren, Jesse (Olivia), Josh (Jordan), Joey, Kim, A.J., Brittany; great-granddaughter, Julianna; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Newcomer North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424). Funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
