It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy Marie Haynes, who left this world peacefully on November 26, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on December 17, 1947, in the tranquil town of Jellico, Tennessee, Dorothy was a woman whose life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Dorothy's journey began in White Oak, TN, where she attended school until the sixth grade. At that tender age, she took on the noble responsibility of helping to raise her ten younger siblings, shaping her into the caring and generous woman she would become. Her humor and empathy were characteristics that defined her, creating a warm and welcoming space for everyone fortunate to know her.
In her professional life, Dorothy, along with her dear friend Theresa, embarked on a successful venture by owning C and H Cleaning, where her unyielding work ethic and infectious laughter brightened the days of both clients and employees alike. Despite the rigors of work, she always made time for her hobbies, finding joy in watching her favorite soap operas, especially Young and the Restless, nurturing her vibrant flower beds, and delighting her loved ones with her famous hot fudge cake.
Dorothy cherished the Fourth of July and often reminisced about the time she set off all the fireworks by accident with a sparkler whilst dancing with her sister, Wilma, at 3:00 PM. That memory encapsulates her vibrant spirit and zest for life, forever illuminating the hearts of those who shared in those moments.
Family was Dorothy's proudest achievement. She built a loving home with her husband Ralph, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years. Together, they nurtured their children—Scott (Beverly) Haynes, Eric (Melissa) Haynes, and Beth (Kevan) Quinlan—instilling values of love and compassion. The legacy of her affection continues through her grandchildren, Brooke (Tyler) Bergman, Kelsey Haynes, Taylor (Adam) Miller, Madison (Paul) Lyons, Natalie Haynes, Elijah Haynes, Chance (Brittany) Cotter, Morgan Cotter, Ryder Quinlan, Hudsan Quinlan, and Monroe Quinlan, as well as her great-grandchildren, Emma, Rowan, Reid, Ava, June, Hazel, Quinn, and Lucy, who were the lights of her life.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Ralph, her children and their families, her sister Ann Teague, and sister-in-law Linda Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Hazel Perkins, and ten brothers and sisters.
As we reflect on her remarkable life, we hold dear the impressions she made on our hearts through her kindness, her laughter, and her boundless love. The memory of Dorothy Marie Haynes will forever be cherished, as she continues to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched.
