Dorothy J. Gifford, an embodiment of kindness and joy passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Troy, Ohio. Born on October 27, 1935, she lived a life rich with adventures, laughter, and, above all, love for her family. Dorothy dedicated many years of her life to the Tecumseh School District, where she became a beloved member of the community before retiring.
Dorothy was never one to shy away from the great outdoors. Camping and fishing were her favorite pastimes, where she found solace and happiness surrounded by nature's beauty. She could often be found playing card games, her competitive spirit shining brightly, always ready to challenge friends and family alike with a twinkle in her eye. A master of humor, she loved to bring smiles to those around her with her playful pranks and light-hearted jokes.
One of the greatest joys of her life was her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the absolute light of her life. Dorothy poured every ounce of her affection into them, always reminding them that they got their good looks from her. Her legacy continues to shine through her beloved grandchildren: Anthony McKenzie (Hope) and Melissa McKenzie, and her cherished great-grandchildren: Jacob Hutchison, Molly Daulton, Madison McKenzie, and Conner McKenzie.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Betty and Shirley, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who were graced by her presence and smile. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence Gifford, her parents, Ray and Addie Mathews, her children, Pamela McKenzie and Ronald Gifford, and her siblings Harold, Homer, Jim, Helen, and Glen.
Dorothy's vibrant spirit and unwavering love will forever remain woven into the hearts of those she leaves behind, reminding us all of the importance of family, humor, and the joy found in life’s simple pleasures.
