Doris Anna O'Byrne, age 88 of New Carlisle, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at home. She was born January 17, 1938 in Nevisdale, Kentucky the daughter of Charlie and Jessie Rose.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Rose; mother, Jessie Rose; four brothers, Roy, Jimmie, Junior, and Snooks; two sisters, Joetta and Phyllis.
Doris is survived by her four children, Barbara (Rick) Allen, Lois (Mike) White, Charles (Becky) O'Byrne, and Jessie Coovert; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Lee, Candida, James (Kelsey), Paige, Hannah (Jason), Aidan, and Tracey (Frank); great-grandchildren, Haley, Autumn, Kaden, Cameron, Ada, Kasen, Alex, Christopher, and Dylan; brother, Ray Rose; sister-in-law, Mary Rose. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted children and grandchildren, as well as many friends.
Doris received her Graduate Equivalence Degree. She went on to become a head chef with NCO Club for more than 25 years then spent more than 20 years with Melodee Restaurant. Doris lived in her home for more than 60 years and it was one of the first homes built in Park Lane. Doris was feisty and funny. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and tending to her rose garden. She was devoted to her family and a true matriarch who will be deeply missed by all.
The family hopes those who would like to honor her will find a quiet time to remember who she was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date, please check back.
