Donnie Nelms

Donnie Nelms, age 68 of Dayton, Ohio, departed this life on October 30, 2020. Donnie attended Dunbar High School. He held various jobs, as he most enjoyed janitorial work. No matter the occasion, Donnie always carried his briefcase and was dressed in his suit, trench coat, and hat. Growing up, he was definitely the light in the room. Donnie and his twin brother, Ronnie, enjoyed making everyone laugh and pranking people by switching their identities.

Preceded in death by wife, Peggy, sons Daryl Grooms and Byant White, mother, Gussie Glenn, twin brother, Ronnie, and grandparents Frank and Irene Nelms.

Left to cherish his memory, Donnie is survived by his daughter, LaDon White, sisters Teresa Foster (Willie Smith), Linda Morrow, and Gwendolyn Van Leer of Indiana, brother Starling Neloms, granddaughter Raven White, grandsons Daryl and Nathan Grooms, aunts Margie Norton and Cumerdis Looney, devoted nephew and caregiver Deshawn Davis, nieces LaToshua Foster of Illinois, Erica (Carl Sr.) Owensby, Tameka Nelms, Jeanea Neloms, and Tanisha Van Leer, nephews Antijuan (Angela) Davis, DaJuan Van Leer of California, and John Morrow of Virginia, with a host of family members and friends.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with funeral services following at 12:00 pm at the Newcomer Kettering Chapel.
