Donald G. Zimmers

Donald G. Zimmers, 86, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on June 27, 2026. Born on November 14, 1939, in Hamilton, Ohio, Donald lived a life defined by hard work, family, and a lifelong passion for automobiles and sports.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey R. Zimmers, Don C. Zimmers, and Diana Marie Banks; his grandchildren, Brittany Zimmers, Jason Zimmers, Jeanne Savage, Devon Banks, and Leona Banks; and his sisters, Harriet Anderson and Beverly Bowling. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence W. Zimmers; his parents, Lois Downing and Robert Zimmers; and his brother, Sylvester Zimmers.

Donald was a skilled mechanic who rented a garage in Dayton to facilitate his hobby and passion for fixing and working on cars, where he earned the respect and friendship of many. He also enjoyed scrapping metal, a pursuit he embraced with dedication throughout his life. A devoted fan of Ohio State and the Cincinnati Bengals, he found joy in following his favorite teams.

Though known for his tough exterior, Donald had a kind heart and a special love for children and animals. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
