Donald E. Rummel, Jr.

Donald Earl Rummel Jr., age 74 of Franklin, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Sycamore Hospital. He was born March 23, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Donald E. and Joesphine (Winterblothom) Rummel Sr.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Peanut Rummel; a son, Michael Mays; in-laws, Mary Swicegood, Thelma Caroll, Betty Rogers, Tommy Yarber and Johnny Yarber.

Donald is survived by his wife, Mamie Rummel; daughters, Pamela (Tavarris Godwin) Rummel and Janet Campbell; grandchildren, Jaden, Jordan, Amanda Mays, Roa (Joey) Rogers, Don Campbell; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Nashlyn, Shyann and Annabella and great great grandson, Jace; brother, Lonzie Blevins; in-laws, Cliff and Evelyn Yarber, Ronnie and Margaret Yarber, Glenn and Joann Morgan, and Bethel and Kathy Yarber, as well as other extended family and friends.

Don attended Nettle Lee Roth High School, class of 1963 and was a Vietnam veteran who honorably served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. Don was employed as a job setter for Apex Cooper Tools, retiring after almost 30 years. He had also worked for Dayton Steel for a period of time. Don enjoyed several activities including target shooting, drag racing, yard work, television and collecting die cast cars.

Family will receive guests from 1:00-3:00 pm Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home - KETTERING. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm and conclude with procession to Trissel Cemetery, New Lebanon for burial with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
