Donald Wayne Robinson passed peacefully into Jesus' arms for eternity on December 11, 2018 in Huber Heights, Ohio at the age of 74 years old.
Donald is survived by his beautiful wife, Benedicta Robinson and 6 wonderful children including David Wamsley, Angela McKissack, Jerry Wamsley, Amanda Robinson, Dennis Wamsley and Neva DeHart, all residing in the Dayton area, along with the 16 precious grandchildren and 1 great grandchild he was blessed with. Also surviving him are his sisters Patricia Robinson and Phyllis Davidson, of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Jerry Robinson and his parents.
Donald was born on July 30, 1944 in Bolivar, TN to James Ward and Mary Ruth Robinson. During his life he obtained two college degrees including a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelors Degree in History, both from Memphis State University. He was respected as an Air Force Veteran who served in the Vietnam War from 1967 - 1972. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio after 28 solid years of service as a Civilian, working in Government Contracting.
Don ("Papa Don", "Dad", "Sweetheart") was a dedicated husband, caring father and an involved grandfather. He enjoyed having a beer, listening to his music and occasionally dancing or singing karaoke. From the time he was a child, he was an avid sports fan and always had a game playing on the TV or radio. He cheered for the St. Louis Cardinals, Memphis State Tigers and Utah Jazz, among many others. When we say he "cheered", everyone in the house could hear him. He also spent a great deal of his spare time transporting the grandkids to various activities, which they all remember fondly. However, there was no doubt that the closest person to his heart was his dear wife, Bene, to whom he was married almost 30 years. He very much cherished her companionship, adored her laugh and couldn't have survived without her cooking. He demonstrated his love toward her by lovingly providing for her, remaining faithful to her and always embracing her Filipino culture within their home.
A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - North; visitation for one hour prior, 12pm - 1pm. Pastor Shaffer will officiate the ceremony and the Military Honors to be rendered at Dayton National Cemetery to pay tribute to Donald for his years of service in the United States Military. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don's life. He will be truly missed by many.
