Donald W. Peters, 79, passed away on October 26, 2026 surrounded by his family and friends. Born on May 30, 1947, Donald lived a life marked by service, generosity, faith, and deep love for those around him.
Donald served in the United States Army, and that spirit of dedication remained evident throughout his life. He was loved by everyone who knew him and was regarded as a beloved pillar of the community. His kind and generous nature also led him to make many friends of strangers and the children in his church community. He was everybody's papaw. Generous by nature, he freely shared both his affection and the fruits of his labor, especially the vegetables he grew in his garden. He canned much of what he raised, and caring for others came naturally to him in these simple, meaningful ways. He loved to cook and loved to eat, and those joys helped bring people together around him. His faith was also central in his life, and he served as head deacon at Moraine City Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracie Scheiding and her husband, Bill; his grandchildren, Juniper Scheiding and Torin Scheiding; his sister, Lois Spicer of Kentucky; his brother, Kenneth Peters of Kentucky; and his girlfriend and companion, Cheri Kuhn. He leaves behind family and friends who will remember his warmth, his steady presence, and the many ways he cared for the people in his life.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Peters; his father, Clyde Peters; his mother, Pearl Peters; and his sister, Brenda.
Donald’s life was one of kindness, service, and quiet generosity. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 with a service starting at 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Following the service Donald will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
