Donald Lee Lucas, affectionately known as Donnie, left this world on October 19, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy marked by his intelligence, creativity, and sense of humor. Born on July 26, 1949, Donnie embraced life with fervor and a determination that permeated every aspect of his career and personal interests.
A true Renaissance Man, Donnie was skilled in many trades, most notably as a carpenter, roofer, and metal fabricator. His resourcefulness extended beyond these roles, as he was a self-taught tech enthusiast who had a knack for decoding the latest gadgets and electronics. Regardless of the task at hand, Donnie could solve problems with ease and inventiveness, earning the admiration of all who knew him.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Donnie expressed his creativity through music. He was an accomplished musician, showcasing his talents on the guitar, drums, and keyboard. His passion for music was only matched by his love for the outdoors, where he delighted in fishing and hunting with his close friends. A good prank and a witty remark were never far from his repertoire, making him a cherished companion and a source of laughter for many.
Donnie's spirit will live on in the hearts of his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Charlene Reedy-Lucas; his children Jeannette Roark, Terry Lucas (Tonya), Missy Lucas (Kenny), and LaDonna Lucas (Matthew); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Randy Lucas, Phillip Lucas (Donna), and Bruce Meyer, alongside several nieces, nephews, and many friends who will fondly remember his vibrant personality.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Jean Lucas; his brother, Rick Meyer; and a brother who passed as an infant, Jackie Wayne, and his former wife, Jane.
Donald Lee Lucas will be remembered not just for his many skills or his humor but for the warmth and love he brought into the lives of those around him. His legacy of creativity, intelligence, and joy in life's simple pleasures will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation will be held from 1:30pm to 2:30pm on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio. Following the visitation, Donnie will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
