Donald G. Leet, aka "Sonny", aka "Perico", age 79, of Kettering, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016 at his home.
He was born on October 7, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to the late James and Virginia (Cook) Leet.
Don retired from Dayton Daily News after 36 years of employment. Additionally, he and Priscilla owned and operated The Book Shoppe for 30+ years. He was also a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and accomplished artist and drummer for 5th Street Survival. Don was an avid fan and collector of books, music and films and would passionately share his knowledge with anyone who would listen. He particularly loved The Beatles, Jimmy Buffet, reggae music, traveling and all things Mayan and African.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Priscilla; his two daughters, Cindy and Romy Leet; grandson, Brandon Leet; as well as so many wonderful family, friends and "adopted family and children". There are too many to list, but he loved you all!
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home- South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. A private burial will take place following services at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
