Donald L. Irwin

April 12, 1967 — April 24, 2024

Donald L. Irwin, "Don," age 57 of Miamisburg, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Don and his older brother, Bruce, grew up in N. Dayton. He attended elementary school at C. F. Holliday in Moraine and stayed within the West Carrollton school system until moving to Miamisburg in high school. His early love of sports stayed with him throughout his life. He had teams for every season, and loved watching, and talking with others about the Reds, Buckeyes and Bengals football and Flyers basketball. He enjoyed playing baseball and football in his youth, and swimming and riding his bike throughout his life.

Don started working in restaurants in high school and never left the field, working at Carvel's, Bob Evans, Steak and Shake, Chop House, Bravo and others until he finally landed at Bargo's where, according to one employee, he was "family".

Don had several significant health problems, some due to serious injuries and heart problems. But it was cancer that took his life, first appearing as lymphoma seven years ago. It was then that he decided to get involved in church and make God a part of his life. SouthBrook became a major influence, through the wonderful "Cancer Hope" program, yoga and men's group. He loved the people he met there, developing special relationships with others and with God.

Don will be remembered as a person who never met a stranger, and as a loyal friend who loved to talk, had high hopes for "his teams", and always said whatever he was thinking. He'll be missed by all who met him.

Don is survived by his mother, Judy Irwin; and brother, Bruce Irwin.

He was preceded in death by father, Richard Irwin.
