Listen to Obituary

Donald “Don” Davis, 69, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at Kettering Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born on January 26, 1957, at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio, Don was the son of Janice and Daniel Davis, who preceded him in death. He was a 1975 graduate of Stebbins High School and went on to earn his degree in Music Education from the University of Dayton in 1979.

Don dedicated much of his life to shaping young musicians as the Band Director at Miamisburg High School. During his tenure, he led the Marching Band, Concert Band, and Pep Band, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. His passion for music and performance extended beyond the classroom, as he was an avid supporter of Winter Guard International and later continued his involvement in the marching arts as a judge for OMEA and BOA competitions.

He is survived by his brothers, Bob (Linda) Davis, Bill (Martina) Davis, and Dan (Barb) Davis; his daughter, Stephanie (Ryan) Malloy of Lima, Ohio; his son, Ryan (Heather) Davis of Springboro, Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren, Blake and Brock Malloy, and Avery and Hadley Davis. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Though his later years were challenged by illness, Don faced them with quiet strength. He now rests in peace, leaving behind a legacy of music, mentorship, and love that will continue to resonate in the lives he touched. In Don's words: "If you can dream it, you can believe it. If you can believe it, you can achieve it."

Don's family will celebrate his life privately at a later date.
