Diane Lingg, affectionately known as "Dinky," passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Troy, Ohio. Born on November 11, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Diane lived a life marked by vibrant energy, boundless love, and a deeply caring spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A proud graduate of Northridge High School, Class of 1964, Diane's zest for life was evident from the start. She devoted many years to her career as Floral Manager for Kroger, where her passion for crafting and creating beautiful floral arrangements blossomed into a true art form. Diane had a unique talent for making little people out of flower pots, a testament to her creative soul and joyful spirit. Gardening was another of her beloved pastimes, a hobby through which she found peace and connection to the earth, nurturing life with the same care and warmth that defined her relationships.
Described by those who knew her as a firecracker—spunky, feisty, and fiercely caring—Diane was a woman with a huge heart. Her presence was a bright and steady beacon in her family's lives. The love she shared was expansive, from her devoted husband of 63 years, Bob "Butch" Lingg, to their cherished children Angie Hatfield (Curtis), Robbie Lingg, and Amy Waltersheide (Mark). Diane found great joy in her role as grandmother to CJ, Lauren, Brad, Kyle, Trent, Kaleb, Garret, and Bailee, and she treasured every moment spent with several great-grandchildren who carried forward her spirited legacy.
Family was at the center of Diane’s world. She is survived by her brother, Frank Harmon, Sr. (Pam), her sister, Linda Rauch (James), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends who all hold her memory close. They remember a woman who was as fierce in her love as she was gentle in her kindness. Diane was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Frank and Helen Harmon, her baby daughter Kimberly Ann, her sister Karen Carpenter, and her niece Heather Jenkins, who remain ever-part of her story in spirit.
The community and family will gather to celebrate Diane’s life at visitation on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424, where the funeral service will follow on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle, Ohio.
Diane's legacy is one that sparkles with enthusiasm, compassion, and creative joy. Though her fiery spirit has moved beyond this world, it lives on vibrantly in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. Through her floral art, her family’s embraces, and the countless lives she influenced, Dinky’s story continues to bloom like the flowers she so tenderly nurtured. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
