Diana Lynn York

Diana Lynn York, age 75 of Kettering, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at St. Leonard Center. She was born April 10, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Irvin Jr. and Florence Schmidt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rick York; brother, Irvin H. Schmidt III "Buddy"; and nephew, Brad Schmidt.

Diana is survived by two children, Tod (Angie) York and Kelly (Bob) Barnes; five grandchildren, Logan, Kaylee, Matt (Callie), Josh, and Carson; great-grandson, Henry; brother, Rick (Debbie) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Connie Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Danny York "Rudy". She is also survived by numerous family and friends.

Diana graduated from Centerville High School in 1966 and was part of the Co-Ed. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Diana loved to spoil all her family by going overboard on birthday and holidays. She was also a character who was never afraid to speak her mind, but she was also super fun-loving. Diana loved music and dancing. She also loved cooking, baking, and crafting. She would do the silliest things to bring smiles to her family's faces. Diana was one of the most generous people.

Though her family is hurting, they take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, Rick to whom she referred to as her "one and only". We know they are making their rounds at garage sales and antique stores. Diana is well loved and will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to know her.

Family will receive guests from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439) where an additional visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 am on Monday, March 4. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at 11:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery.
