Dewayne Mowen, Sr.

Dewayne L. Mowen, Sr., age 81 of Englewood, passed away May 13, 2011. He was born May 31, 1929 in Flint, MI to the late Lloyd and Bernice Mowen. In addition to his parents, Dewayne was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; son, Michael Mowen; and grandson, Ryan Mowen.

Dewayne is survived by children: Mary Jane (Wayne) Freeman, Thomas (Tina) Mowen, Scott (Lisa) Mowen, Sandra (Jim) Clark and Dewayne Mowen, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dewayne was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and volunteered at the VA Medical Center for many years. He was affectionately known there as the "Popcorn Man".

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery, with military honors to be performed by the United States Air Force.
