Derek Jeffery Helmick

Derek Jeffery Helmick, age 38, of Tipp City unexpectedly passed away at his residence on October 2,2025. He was born on May 14, 1987. 

Derek was a 2006 Piqua High School Graduate, and also attended Upper Valley JVS for auto collision repair. Derek loved spending time with his family-especially his son. He enjoyed being outside, hiking, and fishing. He loved his son David more than anything. 

Derek is survived by his Son, David Duray Helmick; sister, Danah Helmick; brother, Dirke (Linda) Helmick and David Davis; father, Sam Helmick; uncles, Scott Helmick and Tom Davis; aunt Scarlett Smith; nephew, Harley Rench; niece, Phoenix Helmick; and many cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Teresa Helmick; granny, Gloria Davis; and great-grandparents, David and Nora Heater. 

Derek was a wonderful person who touched the lives of everyone he knew. He will be missed by many!
