Dennis "Denny" Edward Philipps, Jr., age 39 of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 1, 2020. He was born June 1, 1981 in Dayton, Ohio the son of Dennis and Carol Philipps.
Denny was a 2000 graduate of Wayne High School. He attended the University of Dayton where he obtained degrees in Computer Engineering (2004) and Industrial Engineering (2006) and also Early Childhood Education at Indiana Wesleyan in 2018.
He was currently employed as a substitute teacher in the Huber Heights School District and as a basketball coach. Since this past spring, he has also worked part-time at Krogers in Huber Heights.
Denny was a devoted father to his daughter, Mikenley; and a loving son, brother, uncle, friend, step-father and fiance. He also devoted his time to Engage City Church in Huber Heights and his life to helping others. Denny was such a great guy who always put others before him and could always take time to solve a problem. He will be deeply missed by all who's lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Edward Philipps, Sr.; sister, Lisa Osmond; grandparents, Charles and Clara Kreitzer; Charles and Charlotte Philipps and Phyllis Philipps.
Denny will be missed by his loving mother, Carol Philipps; daughter, Mikenley; sister, Holly (Donnie) Chaney; fiance, Tammy Spencer, Morgan and Madison Spencer; nieces, Kennedy Chaney, Annabelle Osmond; nephews, Korvin Chaney and Wyatt Osmond; brother-in-law, Tony Osmond; aunts and uncles; cousins; and lots of friends and family including his close friend, Steve VanDenbroek.
Family will receive friends Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, close friend and pastor, Doug Wampler, officiating. Burial Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, 7217 National Road, Brookville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, a trust will be set up for his daughter, Mikenley. At this time, checks can be written to Carol Philipps, who is the custodian of the account.
