Delos Richard Allen, age 89, of Beavercreek, beloved father, passed away peacefully at home with his children and loving daughter-in-law on Sunday, February 7, 2016. He was born December 12, 1926 in Monon, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Suzanne; Parents, George W. and Verna Pearson Allen; Siblings, Cecil Pearson, Joseph Pearson, Clarence Allen, George Allen, Robert Allen, Dorothy Doyle, Francis Beasey, and Bill Allen; and Grandson, Jeremy.
Delos is survived by his Son, Richard (Dick) Allen (Gloria); Two Daughters, Karen K. Allen (Vinnie), Sharon A. Larocca (John); Sister, Mary Connell; Grandchildren, Shannon, Emily, Kelsey, Lauren, and Johnny; Great-Grandchildren, Hunter, Spencer, Jeremy James, and Makenzie; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Delos served our country and defended our freedom in World War II and Korea. Afterward, he served our state in the Ohio National Guard.
"Loss" and "Al," as known by many, initially moved to Springfield, Ohio, in the 1950's and started his family with Beverly. He worked in the transmission business until opening a torque converter business where he worked until retirement. He spent his life enjoying camping, belonging to the Shriner's, talking to the many people he visited during his day, and spending time with friends and family. He was well into his 80's when he decided it was time to retire. He will be sadly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 4:00 pm until the funeral at 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A graveside memorial will be held at Bedford Cemetery in White County Indiana on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer's Associations.
