Debra Ann "Debbie" Porter

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Debbie Smith-Porter.

To know Debbie was to experience a soul whose presence far exceeded her physical stature. Affectionately known as “Little Debbie,” she may have been petite in size, but she possessed a monumental spirit, an infectious joy, and an extraordinary zest for life that illuminated every room she entered. She embraced every adventure, found beauty in life’s simplest moments, and had the remarkable gift of turning very little into something unforgettable. Her radiant smile, contagious laughter, and unwavering optimism left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Debbie found happiness in the moments that brought people together. She loved sitting around the table playing dice and cards with family and friends, where laughter came easily and memories were made. She was never happier than when her favorite songs were playing at full blast, filling the house with music and her unmistakable energy. One of her greatest gifts was storytelling. She loved reminiscing about the “good old days,” sharing stories of a time when life felt simpler, families were closer, and hearts seemed a little fuller. Those stories, told with warmth, humor, and love, will forever echo in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to hear them.

Her grandchildren held an especially treasured place in her heart. She looked forward to scary movie nights with her oldest granddaughter, where they would snuggle up together and share laughs, screams, and unforgettable memories. With her youngest granddaughter, she cherished cozy Disney movie nights filled with wonder, songs, and smiles. Some of her happiest moments were the simple ones—taking both of her granddaughters to feed the ducks, watching their faces light up with excitement, and creating memories that they will carry with them forever. Those moments were among her greatest joys and reflected the immense love she had for her girls.

Above all else, Debbie’s greatest accomplishment and deepest devotion were her family. She cherished her three children, welcomed her daughter-in-law with unconditional love, adored her two precious granddaughters, and treasured her three beloved furry companions. She also cherished every friendship and every family bond she built throughout her life. Her kindness, resilience, generosity, and boundless love will continue to live on through each of us.

At this time, our family has made the difficult decision to postpone Debbie’s Celebration of Life for approximately six months. This decision was made so that her youngest daughter, Emily, can complete her commitment to Army National Guard basic training and be present to honor her mother alongside the rest of our family and community. Although Emily is facing one of the greatest heartbreaks of her life, she is returning with strength, courage, and determination—qualities her mother instilled in her—and we know Debbie would be immensely proud of her perseverance.

We want every person whose life was touched by Debbie to have the opportunity to gather, celebrate her remarkable life, share stories, laughter, and tears, and honor the incredible legacy she leaves behind.

Thank you for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support you have shown our family during this unimaginable time. Your kindness has carried us through our darkest days, and we are forever grateful. We will announce the date and details of Debbie’s Celebration of Life as soon as they are finalized.

Though her frame was small, Debbie’s heart, love, and legacy were immeasurable. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love that will continue to comfort all who knew her. While our hearts are broken by her absence, we find peace in knowing that her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the family she loved so fiercely, and the countless memories she gave us. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and never forgotten.
